Kargil War
Col. Ganesh Bhat enlightened the students about the condition that Commanders, Forward Observation Officers had to face in Kargil War in 1999, also known as Operation Vijay. Col Ganesh Bhat is a certified psychologist and a Forward Observation Officer in the 13th Battalion along with several other officers like Vikram Batra, Naveen Nagappa.
The session gave insight on how students have to be mentally and physically fit, adaptable to new surroundings and be courageous.

Gyaan Se Parivarthan (Transformation Through knowledge)session was conducted by Students of M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women guided by their professors Dr. R. Jamuna Chezhian and Mrs. Y. Lavanya (Mathematics Department – M.O.P. Vaishnav College).
Funcions & Various types of functions were explained using Horizontal and Vertical line test. Few tricks to find the derivatives were also explained

Civil Services
Mr. B. Sivachandran and Mrs.R.Monica, with his vast knowledge and practical insights, explained the structure of the UPSC examination, the different stages – Preliminary, Mains, and Interview – and the importance of consistent preparation. He emphasized the need for discipline, time management, and a strong foundation in current affairs.
It was an illuminating and engaging guest lecture which captivated one and all.

“Know your periods”
Dr. Vinodhini S.S, who is a Medical Officer at Apollo, gave an extremely informative and enlightening session about monthly periods- “A period on periods”. Along with her associates, one of whom is a proud Alumni of D.A.V. GGPM, from Plush, a femcare brand, explained about the menstrual cycle, pre-menstrual symptoms and the anatomy of the female reproductive system. The session was kept engaging, with the guest speaker posing several questions during the lecture. She also elaborated about the changes upon attaining puberty, while at the same time encouraging us to treat all of these changes as a part of everyday life. The speaker also explained about personal hygiene and how, when neglected, it leads to various health hazards. The session proved to be enlightening, memorable, engaging and informative.

Ms. Rupa Rasagna, a dynamic media professional with a rich blend of academic and industry experience, captivated the audience with her insightful session on navigating communication in the age of screens. She spoke on how students can be responsible communicators in today’s digital world by leveraging technology, language, and storytelling.

The lecture on the topic “CA in Society” by Mr Mahesh Krishnan, Mrs Rekha Surana and Mr J
Vishwanathan, Alumni Dav Boys School Gopalapuram and Partner in R.G.N Firm and Co as CA Chennai was attended by the students of class 9 and 11. The main objective of the lecture was to make students aware of how to pursue their career in CA. The resource person asked a few motivational questions, gave an
introduction about the topic, and explained the courses and the future scope on CA. The
concepts were well explained through PPT and the students responded enthusiastically.

A guest lecture on the topic “What is an IAS / IPS” was attended by the students of class 9 and 11. The speaker Shri Anil Kumar Kheecha, Chartered Accountant, Insolvency Professional explained the objectives of choosing the Civil Services. He threw light on the various topics including the categories of services and posts, eligibility criteria to appear for the Civil Service Examinations, Challenges in the path, and how to overcome them.

lecturer Mr.GK Ramphrasadh, a Hindustani Classical vocalist of Khayal (Gwalior-Jaipur-Agra) under tutelage of Shri Nirbhay Saxena was passionate about sharing knowledge and aiming to inspire and nurture the future generations. He began Gandharv Shastra- a website to promote theory of Indian Music and Gandharv Kendra – a school for teaching and promoting Hindustani Classical Music. He enriched the students with the knowledge of India ‘s classical and traditional music and also emphasized on the beauty of that art . Students also learnt the theory of music through the practical examples given by Mr.GK Ramphrasadh. Finally accepting student requests Shri Ramphrasadh also performed a mesmerizing classical song.

A lecture on the topic “A CAREER IN DEVELOPMENT” by Shri Rohit Gopaluni Venkata Sai Subramania, Climate Finance and Private Sector Specialist, The Rome Centre for Climate and Energy, Rome, The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) (Alumnus of DAV Boys) was held for students of class 9.
The resource person explained Global developmental challenges of the 21st century, Conflicts and wars in the present scenario , How each challenge can be made an opportunity to make a difference , His experience in Working with UNDP, Investment banking – provides financial solutions to help companies grow , Development finance- make finance work for the people, Poverty in Africa , Opportunities after completing the Masters in Environmental Policy Programme , How to identify one’s skills and upgrade by learning continuously.

Guest lecture by Samuel.J.K.Abraham, a Paediatric cardiologist. The lecture titled “ When mind is without fear and head is Held High” encapsulates the very essence of what it means to be a lifelong student of science. Dr. Samuel.J.K
Abraham beautifully stated the dynamic nature of science as a whole. He later went on to narrate the incredible trajectory of his life, that motivated and inspired us to work and persist until we reach our goal, and show resilience when faced with trials and tribulations. Using a personal example, he explained how effectively challenges
and difficulties in life contribute to an individual’s strength. He demonstrated how eustress plays a crucial role in the production of red blood cells, similar to its influence in shaping a person.

The main objective of the session by Dr. Rajendran Narayanan, Assistant Professor,
School of Arts & Sciences, Azim Premji University, Bangalore was to make students aware of rural employment programme under MGNREGA at the ground level. He also highlighted on the laws that allow the villagers to get its benefits. The resource person asked a few motivational questions, gave an introduction about the topic, and explained the conditions of farmers and landless workers in rural areas and how Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Act helps them. The interactive session which highlighted the key features of the Act gave first hand information based on the research work of the speaker , which was very enriching.

Ms.Soundarya began the session by classifying food into various categories, highlighting the diversity and significance of each group. This systematic classification set the stage for an insightful discussion on nutrition and dietary habits.A detailed explanation was provided about dal, a staple in many diets, emphasizing its role as a vital source of protein. The speaker pointed out that dal contains an equal proportion of carbohydrates and protein, making it a well-balanced dietary component. The speaker stressed the importance of eating everything in moderation. Students of class VI and VII understood how to have a nutritious diet that supports overall health and well-being.

The session was led by Dr.Sita on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Dr.Sita holds a PhD in Sanskrit and B.Sc in Mathematics .She serves as the secretary in multiple organisations and institution.The seminar on the mathematical contributions of ancient Indian scholars was both enlightening and inspiring for the class VIII students. The speaker began by emphasising the remarkable mathematical discoveries made by Vedic scholars, which continue to influence the world today.
One of the key highlights of the session was the exploration of important topics such as quadratic equations, the Pythagoras theorem, and the Fibonacci series. The speaker explained these concepts in detail, shedding light on their origins and the significant role ancient Indian scholars played in their development.

The session was led by Ms. Manasvini on the topic “The art of seeing art – An introduction to Art and conservation of Art” . She has been the Principal and Director of Kala Sadhanalaya since 2018. Under her leadership, she has gained recognition for her passionate contributions to the conservation of traditional art forms.
The engaging workshop was designed as an interactive experience and began with a thorough analysis of art and the essential practice of conserving various artistic expressions. Ms. Manasvini skillfully transitioned to the main focus of the session: Kadhir Conservation, captivating the class VIII students with her insights.

The session was led by Mr. Suresh, widely known as Solar Suresh, on January 6, 2025 (Monday). He is the proud owner of an eco-friendly home in Chennai, which serves as a source of inspiration for many. Mr. Suresh emphasized the critical importance of avoiding resource depletion in our efforts to combat pollution on our planet.
He has implemented a range of eco-friendly initiatives, including rainwater harvesting, biogas systems, solar vehicles, air-to-water filters, and both off-grid and on-grid solar panels. Through an engaging PowerPoint presentation, he guided the students In understanding how he outfitted his home as a model of sustainability. Deputy Commandant Dhaneshwaran P (Electrical officer) , Deputy Commandant Lakshmanan M (Navigation officer) and Surgeon Lieutenant Alfred Marshal (Medical officer) addressed the students of class XI.

Dr. Balasubramanian Murali, Deputy Resident Representative of the UNDP, Senior Advisor to the UN in Asia addressed the students of classes XI and XII on 19th July 2022. The session was highly enlightening with Mr. Murali enriching the students with various facts and details about the history and structure of the UN. He also opened the forum for an interactive and lively Q/A session where he offered his valuable input to the students, fueling the children with inspiration from his own career and experiences.

A career counselling session was organised for class XI & XII students on Bachelor Degree in Data Science and Application. The resource persons from IIT Ms.Kamala, Global head for exams and operations and Mr.Harikrishnan explained about the course initiated by IIT and emphasised the importance of analysis.
